Old Kentucky Road

Kentucky is known for chicken, horse racing, fast cars, and much more.

And Down the Stretch They Come!
The Kentucky Derby is the oldest continuously held horse race in the country. It is held at Churchill Downs in Louisville on the first Saturday in May.

To the Bat Cave
Mammoth Cave is the world's longest cave and was first promoted in 1816, making it the second oldest tourist attraction in the United States. Niagara Falls, New York is first.

The Blue Grass State
Bluegrass is not really blue--its green--but in the spring bluegrass produces bluish purple buds that when seen in large fields give a blue cast to the grass. Today Kentucky is known as the Bluegrass State.

North vs South
Kentucky was the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln and the Confederate president Jefferson Davis. The two great men were born in log cabins within one year and 100 miles of each other.

Hello Dolly
The Great American Dollhouse Museum is located in historic downtown Danville.  They showcase over 200 dollhouses, miniature buildings, and room boxes all furnished in remarkable detail and populated with tiny people at work and play.

It's Picking Time
There's Only One...International Bluegrass Music Museum.  Located in
RiverPark Center near downtown Owensboro, the state of the art, interactive museum is dedicated to preserving and encouraging the growth of bluegrass music.  Be sure to attend ROMP (River Of Music Party) in June to celebrate Kentucky's own, Bluegrass Music!

A Little Muscle
Since 1953 the Corvette has been America's Sports Car. The National Corvette Museum, located in Bowling Green, was established with a mission of celebrating the invention of the Corvette; preserving its past, present and future; and educating the public about Corvette. Across the street is the GM Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant, the only place in the world where Corvettes are made.

Check out what happened in February of 2014.  Glad it was night time!

Finger Lickin' Good
The first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant owned and operated by Colonel Sanders is located in Corbin.  KFC is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky and is the world's second largest restaurant chain (as measured by sales) after McDonald's, with 18,875 outlets in 118 countries.

I’m the Greatest!
Muhammad Ali was born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr. in Louisville and is considered among the greatest heavyweights in the boxing history. A controversial and polarizing figure during his early career, Ali is today widely regarded for the skills he displayed in the ring plus the values he exemplified outside of it: religious freedom, racial justice and the triumph of principle over expedience.  He is one of the most recognized sports figures of the past 100 years, crowned "Sportsman of the Century" by Sports Illustrated.

There's a lot to do in Kentucky so get out and enjoy the Bluegrass State.  While you're here stop by our Wurtland location and say hello.
